Queer Good Grief
About

Queer Clinic is excited to be collaborating with The New Normal Charity to host monthly Queer Good Grief meetings.
TNN runs free, accessible and inclusive peer support meetings for people experiencing grief. Some attendees wanted a space specifically for queer people so that they could talk openly without having to explain the nuances of their experience, or fear being judged. So, they set up Queer Good Grief.
Now, Queer Clinic is proud and excited to be collaborating with TNN to host these meetings on their behalf, and to invite in anyone under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella who is living with bereavement and who wants to talk.
The space will always be run by queer facilitators, trained in peer support, with lived experience of grief.
Meetings will be available on our Events Page soon.

Why did it start?
“As queer and trans people, we found ourselves too often in a position of having to censor ourselves to ensure our safety. When discussing something as sensitive as grief, it was important to have a space which was by us and for us, hence the beginning of Queer Good Grief. Through shared identities and experiences, we’ve created a space which is vulnerable, tender and somehow still joyful.”
June, founding Host of Queer Good Grief

What to expect
-
Meetings are online via Zoom and last for 75 mins. You can leave at any time.
-
The space is facilitated by a host who will read an introduction and open up the room for conversation. Everyone will introduce themselves and the person(s) they are remembering this meeting.
-
You will not be called on to speak after the introduction unless you choose to.
-
This is a space where you can share in an uncensored way with people who understand your experience.
-
This is not therapy; it is a space to be simply witnessed rather than be offered solutions or advice.
-
Come as you are. Email us at queerclinic@gmail.com if you have any questions beforehand.
