So many of us are carrying tension in our necks - from looking down at our phone screens all day, or working at a computer. How is this also a queer issue?

  • Anxiety can cause shallow breathing which tightens neck muscles

  • Anyone who binds may habitually hunch forward, straining neck muscles

  • Anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable in public may also have guarded body language which can cause neck tension

  • Anyone who is uncomfortable with their voice or speaking up for themselves will also be adding tension to the throat

  • QNTB+ people may feel more uncomfortable accessing services such as yoga or massage which can help

If any of the above feels like something you deal with (or if you just want to stretch out your neck!) these exercises can help. Feel free to take your own time with them.

This is an excerpt from a workshop run by Rosie on Self-Care for the Neck.
