Queer Protest Songs: An EP of Resistance

We are developing a new project that will commission and mentor six trans and non-binary bands/artists to create original protest songs responding to the rising anti-queer rhetoric and inequality they experience. Through two interactive songwriting and mentoring workshops, tailored support and ongoing peer-to-peer connection, each artist will develop their ideas into a finished track for a collaborative 6-track EP. The recording process will be filmed to create six dynamic music videos, alongside a professionally produced zine documenting the artists, their voices and creative journeys. The music, films and zine will create a lasting, accessible platform for queer artists to speak for themselves, challenge dominant narratives and celebrate resistance, creativity and community.
